PREPARATIONS FOR HURRICANE SEASON

Hurricane season begins in June and ends in late November, generally intensifying during August and September. Due to the serious damage to property and people that can be caused by extreme weather conditions, the Consulate General of Italy in Houston has updated its website with useful information for emergency situations.

This page provides general information and specific indications relating to the urban and rural regions most at risk of extreme weather phenomena and their various types, which see a greater risk of hurricanes for Houston/Galveston and New Orleans, and a greater incidence of tornadoes in the flat regions of Arkansas, Oklahoma as well as in northern Texas and Louisiana.

Regardless of the place of residence, it is strongly recommended that you obtain information from your local authorities regarding any emergency plans envisaged in the event of natural disasters and, if the latter occurs, carefully follow the instructions that will be provided by them.

It is also recommended that Italian citizens register on the Dovesiamonelmondo website in order to allow the Italian authorities to contact you directly in the event of an emergency.
