EIGHT CONFERENCE OF ITALIAN RESEARCHERS IN THE WORLD

The Conference of Italian Researchers in the World, organized by COMITES (Committee of Italians Abroad) with the cooperation and under the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy, convenes in Houston for its eight edition. The purpose of the Conference is to present to a broader public the work done by researchers connected to Italy through their nationality or sphere of interest, and to provide the latter with a networking opportunity.

The Conference of Italian Researchers in the World, which celebrates this year its eight edition, is one of the more relevant events for Italian research in the United States. The Conference is addressed primarily to Scholars in the fields of Biomedical Science, Physics, Engineering, Aerospace, Geology, Energy and Humanistic Studies, whose activities are connected to Italy either through their nationality, field of interest or existing relationship with one or more public or private Italian entity.
The choice to convene this event in Houston is due to the presence in the State of Texas of a numerous and qualified community of Italian researchers and scholars, who have moved to this part of the United States thanks to the activities generated by the Texas Medical Center, one of the world's greatest and largest Medical Centers especially for oncology and cardiology, by Universities such as Rice or University of Texas Medical Branch, by NASA and by the research facilities of the Houston-based energy corporations.
The activities of the December 1st Conference are centered around the main fields of Italian research in the United States. Presentations are gathered around the sectors of Biomedical Science, Physics, Engineering, Aerospace, Geology and Energy. For the first time, the Conference will host a special session on research done by companies.

In addition to the role of presenting and circulating the results of Italian research in this part of the country, the Conference also fulfills a positive role in fostering cooperation between Italian and Texas research institutions. In the 2011 edition of the Conference, the University of Palermo and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston signed an agreement for the mutual recognition of a PhD program in biomedicine and neuroscience, which became operational in October 2012.

The
conference will be held on Saturday, December 1st, from 08.30 am to 6 pm at the Auditorium located on Post Oak Boulevard 1330. The Conference is open to the general public, and will be held in English. Admission is free. Those who are interested in attending are required to complete a form which can be downloaded here.
