On June 26, 2021, the exhibition "The Painters of Pompeii: Roman Frescoes from the National Archaeological Museum, Naples" opened to the public at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, in Oklahoma. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and Mondo Mostre.

“We’re proud to share with the American people the treasures of Pompeii’s artistic heritage, thanks to the collaboration between the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. <The Painters of Pompeii> presents for the first time in the United States almost 90 artworks (mostly frescoes) from the Ancient Roman era buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and brought to light by excavations in the 1700s”, said the Italian Ambassador to the United States, Mariangela Zappia.

During the exhibition, a series of lectures will take place in the Noble Theater with some of the most renowned scholars in the field of Ancient Roman Art and History.

All the artworks on display come from the Archaeological Museum of Naples which has one of the most important and vast collections dedicated to Roman frescoes.

The exhibition is accompanied by a full-color catalogue that takes the readers to explore the collection of Roman frescoes in the Archaeological Museum of Naples and illustrates the history of the Vesuvian cities.
