{"id":7637,"date":"2025-12-17T12:56:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T17:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/conshouston.esteri.it\/?page_id=7637"},"modified":"2026-01-22T11:57:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T16:57:49","slug":"minors-born-on-or-before-may-24-2025","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/conshouston.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/cittadinanza\/minors-born-on-or-before-may-24-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Minors born on or before May 24, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"118\" data-end=\"446\"><strong data-start=\"118\" data-end=\"226\">Minors born abroad to an Italian citizen parent at birth who does not automatically transmit citizenship<\/strong> (i.e. minors who do not fall within one of the three cases listed on the civil status page dedicated to <strong data-start=\"331\" data-end=\"340\">Birth<\/strong>), may <strong data-start=\"347\" data-end=\"358\">acquire<\/strong> Italian citizenship <strong data-start=\"379\" data-end=\"423\">by operation of law (beneficio di legge)<\/strong> in the following case:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"1357\">\n<li data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"1357\">\n<p data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"1357\">If the minors were under the age of 18 on the date of entry into force of Law No. 74\/2025 converting Decree-Law No. 36\/2025 (<strong data-start=\"580\" data-end=\"614\">i.e. minors as of May 24, 2025<\/strong>), and are children of citizens <strong data-start=\"646\" data-end=\"658\">by birth<\/strong>, recognized on the basis of an administrative or judicial application submitted by <strong data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"786\">11:59 p.m. (Rome time) on March 27, 2025<\/strong>, or on the basis of an application submitted following an appointment communicated by the same date (letters <strong data-start=\"896\" data-end=\"914\">a, a-bis and b<\/strong>, Article 3-bis, paragraph 1, of Law No. 91 of February 5, 1992), and who submit a <strong data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1069\">declaration of intent to acquire Italian citizenship by May 31, 2026<\/strong> (Article 1-ter of Decree-Law No. 36 of March 28, 2025, as converted by Law No. 74\/2025).<br data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1161\" \/>If the person concerned, who was a minor as of May 24, 2025, reaches the age of majority in the meantime, the declaration must be submitted <strong data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1335\">personally by the individual<\/strong> by the same deadline.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; background: white; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #1a1a1a;\">Appointments are temporarily closed, they will resume soon and will be available to book online.
