Celebrating Italian Scientific Excellence Worldwide

The Italian Research Day in the World (Giornata della Ricerca Italiana nel Mondo) is an annual event promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to highlight Italian scientific excellence and promote the internationalization of national research centers. The event also serves as a valuable networking opportunity to foster new collaborations between Italian researchers and key public and private stakeholders engaged in research and technology transfer.
Call for Abstracts
As part of this initiative, the Consulate General of Italy in Houston, the Com.It.Es. of Houston, and the West South-Central Chapter of ISSNAF (Italian Scientist and Scholar North American Foundation) invite graduate students and postdoctoral researchers (within seven years of obtaining their PhD) working within the consular district of Houston (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma) to submit an abstract for a poster presentation showcasing their research. Additionally, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers of any nationality are welcome to participate, provided their work is conducted under the supervision of an Italian principal investigator.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
- Submissions are welcome from all scientific fields, including but not limited to:
- Earth and Environmental Sciences
- Space and Aerospace Research
- Medicine and Biotechnology
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
- Engineering and Technology
- Physics, Chemistry, and Material Sciences
- Neuroscience
- Abstract format:
- Maximum length: 300 words, 1-inch margins, single-spaced
- Title: Arial 14
- Authors and affiliations: Arial 12 (bold the presenter’s name)
- Body text: Arial 11, structured into four sections: Background, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions
- No figures or graphics allowed
- Language: English
- Submission format: Word file, named “FirstName_LastName.docx”

Awards and Recognition
All presenters will receive a certificate of attendance. Additionally, the best contribution will be honored with the Best Poster Award, recognizing outstanding scientific excellence and originality.
