Italy & Usa

Visit of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to the United States (Washington DC, October 2019)

Bilateral relations between Italy and the United States have deep historical roots. Today they are based on a vast and capillary network of relationships not only between institutions, but also – to cite a few examples – between local administrations, civil societies, production systems, academic, cultural and scientific organizations and the citizens of the two countries . They are also based on a complex system of agreements in force, which can be consulted (in Italian) on the “ATRIO” database.

In these pages we offer a first overview of this context, which is alive and constantly evolving, and in particular on what the Italian Embassy and consular network do to facilitate, day by day, the consolidation of the great friendship between Italy and the United States .
