Renounce the Italian Citizenship

The requirements to renounce the Italian citizenship are the following:

• The have another citizenship (and proof of it) AND
• To be registered in AIRE with this Consulate

Documentation to present is:

1. Original of the dell’Estratto dell’Atto di Nascita issued by the Comune AIRE and not older than six months
2. Italian Passport (if you have it)
3. Proof of other citizenship (Ex. Valid passport, naturalization certificate, etc.)
4. Valid State Driver License or State ID
5. Proof of wire transfer payment for 250 Eurosmade to:

  • International Bank Account Number (IBAN): IT54D0760103200000000809020
  • Beneficiary Address: PIAZZA DEL VIMINALE 1 – 00184 ROMA RM – ITALY
  • Information for the Beneficiary: (nome e cognome) – rinuncia cittadinanza
  • Beneficiary Bank RTN or SWIFT: BPPIITRR
  • Beneficiary Bank Name: POSTE ITALIANE SPA
  • Beneficiary Bank Address: TRIGORIA, VIA A. GIUFFRE’ 156 – ROMA, ITALY

To renounce to your Italian citizenship, please send an email to cittadinanza.houston@esteri.it with object: “Renounce of the Italian Citizenship from Name LAST NAME” and attach the scan of the above-mentioned documentation.

After the reception of the email with the correct documentation, an appointment at the Consulate will be set. At the time of the appointment, the original documentation needs to be presented.
