The visa for family reasons includes two categories:
- the foreign national related to another foreign national who has moved to Italy. This case requires a clearance (nulla osta) from the Unified Immigration Desk (Sportello Unico Immigrazione),
- the foreign national related to an Italian or EU citizen intending to move to Italy. This case involves a simpler procedure that does not require such clearance.
