Q1. I cannot see any available appointments on PRENOTAMI. Does this mean there are no appointments at all?
No. PRENOTAMI shows appointments only within a short rolling time window (approximately up to 6 weeks from the current date). If you do not see any available slots, it means that all appointments currently released within that window are already fully booked.
Q2. Why can’t I book an appointment several months in advance?
Appointments are not released several months ahead. The calendar is updated progressively and only shows a limited period ahead. It is therefore normal not to find appointments far in advance.
Q3. Will new appointments be released? When?
Yes, additional appointment slots are released periodically, depending on the office’s workload and operational capacity. It is not possible to predict in advance the exact date and time when new slots will be made available. Applicants are kindly invited to check PRENOTAMI regularly.
Q4. I plan to travel in a few months (e.g. June) and today is February. Should I be worried?
No. If your travel date is still several months away, you should not be concerned if you cannot find an appointment at this time. You will have better chances of booking an appointment closer to your intended travel date, as new slots will be released in the coming weeks.
Q5. Can I request an appointment by email?
No. Appointment requests sent by email will not be considered. All appointments must be booked exclusively through PRENOTAMI: https://prenotami.esteri.it/
Q6. Where can I find official and updated information on visa requirements?
All official and updated information is available on our website: visa section.
Inquiries on topics already covered on our website will not receive a response.
Q7. Can you provide updates on the status of my visa application by email?
No. The Consulate does not provide updates on the status of visa applications via email.
Q8. Is the Consulate in Houston the only office processing visa applications?
Yes. All visa applications within this jurisdiction are processed exclusively by the Consulate General of Italy in Houston.
