May 1st, 2024, was a day of great significance for the Italian Air Force and aviation enthusiasts worldwide as it marked the final phase of training for the renowned aerobatic team, the Frecce Tricolori, before the start of the 2024 Acrobatic Season. The event, held at Rivolto Air Base, brought together 136 Frecce Tricolori Clubs, showcasing widespread support and affection for this iconic formation.
General Air Squad Luca Goretti, Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, emphasized the importance of this moment, stating that 2024 would be an unprecedented year for the Frecce Tricolori, as after over thirty years, they would return to North America for an epic tour across Canada and the United States.
The highlight of this American tour will be the “North America Tour 2024” (NAT24), which will kick off on June 22nd in Bagotville, Canada, to commemorate the Centenary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. This tour, spanning the entire summer season, will take the Frecce Tricolori to numerous locations including Niagara, Montreal, Ottawa, Las Vegas, and many others, representing Italy with iconic flyovers and participating in events that strengthen ties between air forces.
In addition to being a spectacle of aerobatics, NAT24 will be an important training activity for the Italian Air Force, involving complex logistical operations and showcasing the military and aerospace capabilities of the country. It will also be an opportunity to promote “Made in Italy” and the national industry to the numerous Italian-Canadian and Italian-American communities.
The 313th Acrobatic Training Group, based in Rivolto, is preparing to represent Italy and the Italian Air Force at its best during this tour, highlighting the values of competence, teamwork, and passion that characterize the Frecce Tricolori.
With their return to North America after so many years, the Frecce Tricolori are poised to write a new chapter in their glorious history, bringing the Italian tricolor to distant skies and representing the best of Italian national pride and aviation prowess.
